I’m really excited to finally start building the Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Model after introducing the project to you. We started by cutting out the chassis with a very sharp knife and a metal ruler to make sure the lines were straight.
As you can see, we had to make some cuts, and cut around the GEN11 licence plate, before folding. This part was really detailed so we had to be very careful.
Doing the folds was tricky at first, but easier than the cuts. Then we had to glue the tabs and make sure the glue was set.
Finally the chassis looks more like part of a car and less like a flat piece of printed card.
With the chassis finished, we’re excited to move on to the next part- the body of the car is next- and it will start to make it really look like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang! Stay tuned for more updates as we keep building.
Can’t wait to see how it’ll turn out. I love Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. The main actor (the inventor) was born before TVs were even invented and is still alive today but he’s very old now.
